The actress Marina Sirtis played the role of Counsellor Deanna Troi on the TV series "Star Trek: The Next Generation" and in the movies that followed it. Although generally adept at solving problems by mediation and communication, Troi was willing and able to pick up a phaser when necessary. She also studied a martial-arts type of exercise with her Klingon colleague, Worf.

Marina was born in London to Greek parents, and is married to musician Michael Lamper. They live in Los Angeles. In addition to her work on Star Trek, she appeared in the movie "Death Wish 3" with Charles Bronson, and has appeared in many plays in Europe.
