Welcome to my "Barbie doll pages."
Actually, these pages include more than just Mattel's Barbie dolls. I am interested in dolls of approximately 12 inches in height, which translates to 1/6 human size.
I have borrowed images of Barbie-type dolls produced by many companies. The images may be direct from the company website, or something I have scanned in, or a scan I borrowed from someone else's personal webpages (a lot of them came off ebay). Thank you to everyone for the (mostly unauthorized) use of your images!
These pages are not intended to be a complete catalog of any type of doll, they are just pictures of my favorite dolls -- a sort of virtual doll collection, since I can't afford the real thing. But I think you'll find that there's quite a variety of dolls in each category. I hope you enjoy my site!
I apologize for the slow loading of the pages. There's lots of great pictures! I tried to limit the number of pictures per page by breaking them up into several pages per category. And I didn't use any distracting backround images, colors, sounds, or animations.
Why did I choose these particular dolls? For years, I've been tired of the traditional Barbie doll: blonde hair down to her knees, blue eyes, pale skin, skinny body, and concerned with shopping and babysitting and modeling. Most of the women on this planet do not have blonde hair, blue eyes, or pale skin -- most have dark hair, dark eyes, and dark skin. So I started trying to find dolls that were more representative of the majority of the women in the real world. That led to my search for dolls with more realistic bodies, instead of a huge bust and a tiny waist. And I have always been interested in women who dared to cross the line and do "men's work" rather than the traditional "women's work." Lastly, I love the magical look of the fairy and angel dolls. So that explains my choices...
